Richie Kotzen’s One-of-a-Kind Fire Red Trench by Henry Duarte

Z×R Album Cover & Rolling Stones Tour Provenance

This is not just a jacket — it’s a landmark piece of rock history.

Custom-designed by legendary L.A. fashion icon Henry Duarte, this fire red leather trench was created specifically for Richie Kotzen and worn during one of the most iconic moments of his career. Richie wore this coat on tour with The Rolling Stones in Japan, and again on the cover of his Z×R: Ai Senshi Soldiers of Sorrow album — a powerful reimagining of classic Gundam anime themes through Richie’s virtuosic lens.

Duarte, whose name became synonymous with the fashion of rock royalty, was already dressing nearly every major name in music by the time he met Kotzen. His work had been worn by Lenny Kravitz, Guns N’ Roses, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, INXS, and countless others. His designs didn’t just reflect rock culture — they helped shape it.

About Henry Duarte:

At just 23, Duarte exploded onto the scene — his first celebrity client being Raphael Saadiq of Tony! Toni! Toné!. From there, the fashion world fed him a steady stream of stars: New Edition, INXS, New Kids on the Block, Ricky Martin, Vanilla Ice, and beyond.

But it was in the early '90s when Duarte’s dark, rebellious aesthetic collided with the rock world. Lenny Kravitz, preparing to open for David Bowie, personally sought Duarte out to sharpen his iconic stage look. That introduction led directly to Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses, and the rest was history.

Operating from his storefront on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, Duarte spent the next two decades creating signature leather trenches, lace-up jeans, and full performance wardrobes for Alice in Chains, The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and others. His style didn’t just appear on stage — it influenced millions of fans who mirrored the looks of their musical heroes.

For over 25 years, Duarte was the designer of the rock world — and this trench, made exclusively for Kotzen, is a living artifact of that legacy.
